During class today I touched up some of my past computer graphics projects.

Widget Watches

This is a picture of my button . At its normal state its a blue rectangle, when you hover over the button it turns into a dark purple circle, and finally when you click on it, it becomes a light purple rectangle.

During class today we worked on using flash. In flash we made objects move all around the page by using different layers and frames. I also started to work on my project again.

During class today I worked on my logo and banner. I decided to change up my old logo into a new one for my website.

This is my poster for Mahopac's upcoming play, The Sound of Music.  

For my next website I am going to redesign my last website. My theme last time was a portfolio site that showed my graphic design work. This time around, I am looking to advance my website. I will add more pictures and change up the formatting. For example instead of having the navigation bar horizontal, I'll change it to vertical and add pictures to it. I am also going to try and incorporate my blog into it.

During class today I finished up my banner and navigation bar. I also changed my logos color. I will post pictures tomorrow.

During class today I finished my logo on photoshop, and then cleaned it up on illustrater. On Monday I will work on my banner and post a picture of my finished logo.

Purpose Statement

I am going to create a Portfolio Site. The main purpose of my site is to show my art projects in a more creative way. Almost like a portfolio. On my website I will be sure to have my graphic design work and some information about me.

During Web Design today I finished my poster for Illusion and created my splashpage. I also added a picture to my html first website. I am really confused on how to place the pictures in the right spot instead of them being all spaced out.

During class today I worked on my Illusion poster. I edited a picture I had taken for the poster and started to add effects to it.

During class today I finished my illusion logo and started to work on my first website again. I added the navigation bar and an image.

Today in class I worked on my logo in Illustrator. I cleaned my image and made it more sharp. Tomorrow I am going to make the finishing touches on the logo and then start to work on my website.

Today we worked on creating HTML on 3wschools.com. This website helped us test out our HTMLS.

 J.C.R. Licklider of MIT was credited for envisioning the "internet" in August of 1962. He called it his "Galactic Network" concept.

HTML is the language that web pages are written in. "Hypertext mark-up language." To create a HTML you would need a word-processing program such as Microsoft's Notepad or WordPad, or Mac's Simple Text. Some different programs that are on this computer that can help build a website are Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Word.

Some actually believe that both a banner and header are referring to the same thing but in fact they are not! A header is an image that is placed on top of a website or blog. It is usually horizontal in size and consists of mainly of logo or some other elements such as social media icons, advertisement banner or search bar. The main purpose of the header is to set the feel a website and inform you what the websites purpose is. Unlike a header, a banner is used to inform or advertise purposes. Banners are more interactive and dynamic due to technology today but are less effective.

The Average size should be at least 1240 pixels wide and 500 pixels tall.

Pixels are small little dots that make up the images on computer display.

I enjoy Apple's website because I love the simplicity of it and the easy navigation around the site.

Houlihan Lawrence has a very creative website that draws visitors further into the site with things such as pictures and at the same time is easy to use.

Windham Mountain has a very unique website. As you open up the page there are pictures in motion. I believe this really draws in visitors.

Google is a very easy to navigate, simple, yet creative website which is one of the reasons I believe it is so useful and common.

The Bahamas website is very cheerful and colorful. It also shows many pictures to capture visitors into picking them as their next vacation.

MTV's website advertises a good amount of theirs channel with pictures, videos and articles which is one of the reasons for its great success.

Ticketmaster is a very simple website that website that is always reliable.

Michael Kors advertises its products, with pictures, right when you go onto their page, making visitors want to engage more with the website. 

Nordstrom simplicity and detailed pictures is a very helpful component when shopping online.

CNN is very easy to navigate and simple.

Today I played around with my blog. I like my background so I decided to keep it but instead changed my template, colors, and fonts.

Today I changed my profile picture to a real picture of me and uploaded my "Purpose of a Website" paper.

Purpose of a Website

Most people believe the main purpose of a website is to show their visitors how creative they are. But one of the most significant reasons for having a website is to generate business. Although creativity is important. Simple, easily navigated sites are shown to have the most success in turning visitors into prospects. An overly creative site can lead to confusion of the visitor, causing them to leave the site. While a creative but simple site that is easy to navigate makes the visitor want to stay on the site and learn more information about whatever is being advertised. The writer of  The Purpose of a Website article states, “The site is the vehicle that attracts the right prospects to your company.” This is basically saying your site defines your company and matches it to the perfect prospects, which will lead to a successful business in the end. Your site should guide and engage visitors. It is also important to target new visitors to your site to expand your company’s business. Some key information is to not only make sure your company’s site comes up when its name, domain name, or key personnel is typed into google. But also keywords that relate to your company. This is a great opportunity for business because the site is exposed to new people that can consider your company. Imagery, text and videos are all essential materials to have on a website. Visitors can have a more in depth understanding about you and your company. This can lead your website to stand out and be distinct from all the others. And having a distinct website can lead past visitors to remember your site and use your company in the future. All of these tips can lead to a successful site that can expand your business. Which is the primary purpose of a website.

        Throughout my high schools years I have taken studio art, computer graphics and advanced computer graphics. I have always enjoyed the computer graphics field of art. Making logos and ads is one of my favorite things to do because I love the competition of it all. Which also relates to web sites, being one of the reasons I am looking forward to this web design class. I’m hoping to get more skillful with computers in this class. And I am hoping this class will help me learn new skills because I am looking to do something amongst this field in college, and it’s always better to start early.  

Final outcome of my project!

I can't upload any photos still, but I finished my 5th step today and starting to work on my 6th one. Hopefully I will finish tomorrow and be able to upload my final splash page.

Today I finished the card project. Yesterday I finished my joker which is George Washington holding a flag and today I finished my queen, Abigail Adams who has an "end slavery" pin on and women in the background who are holding signs that say "Votes for Women."
